|About the Book|
I really wanted to like this book with four short mystery stories involving Fr. Dowling. The problem was that at least half the time the culprit and scenario of the crime was predictable, and that made the reading a little less fun. Guessing a whodunit correctly isnt much fun when the solution is too obvious. And the characters were flat and uninteresting. The only fun was reading the occasional barbs directed at religious liberals or ultra-conservatives or hucksters. I suppose I also liked the priests embodiment of Gods mercy in dealing with those who committed crimes of passion. I would only recommend the book for those really interested in trying to solve murder mysteries that arent very challenging.
